  You can do so by replacing the grip. Since the fin is a part of the grip itself.

  they are apples to oranges CA is harder on Handguns by far and with rifles they can't have a muzzle brake or flash hider or a barrel shroud in NY. Even with the fixed stock, and no pistol grip, and a 10-round magazine.   It is a fin that prevents you from holding the "Pistol grip" with a closed fist for some restricted states like CA.
