Is this model a good choice for a primary duty or service gun?
It definitely is. Glock 19s are fantastic pistols used by many law enforcement officers and military personnel. When it comes to duty/service pistol it would be hard to beat a Glock 19. Hope this helps and good luck with your choice.
Andrew, yes Sir it is an excellent choice. The G19x has the same size slide (top end) but has the longer G17 Grip for 17rd and 19rd Capacity along with Night Sights (the best carry/capacity option) : budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/117580/glock+19x+usa+9mm+pistol+19rd+night+sights

Absolutely, depending on your hand size there are some LEOS that prefer the slightly larger Glock17, but there are many, many officers carrying this exact gun as a duty weapon. Id say the G19, or G17 are the gold standard for duty carry.
And great thing about the G19 is it is a smaller overall footprint but will still accept G17 and larger magazines. You can even get a fun stick up to 33 rds of 9mm.
Gen3, 4 and 5 are all super reliable and proven in some of the toughest jobs (law enforcement and military service) all over the world.
