Superformance uses ultra progressive propellants that take your favorite SST or GMX bullets to levels of performance that are simply unattainable with conventional propellants. In order to get more velocity in the past " shooters have used a brute force approach" large charge weights of a slow burning powder in a larger cartridge case. Ultimately this leads to more recoil and muzzle blast. The Superformance solution is an elegant approach that utilizes specialized powders at NORMAL charge weights, that impart all usable energy to the bullet reducing the Rocket Nozzle Effect at the muzzle while still increasing velocity.

Great Ammo . Took a white-tailed buck with it last season. The beast immediately dropped like a sack of potatoes . The exit wound was the size of a silver dollar and everything except the lungs were still in edible condition.

This is an update on my 10/22/18 review. On 12/14/19 I used this cartridge in a CVA Scout V2 to take a 180 lb., 10 pt whitetail at 70 yards. Bullet hit him high in the ribs and he hit the ground, kicked twice, raised and dropped his head once and died. I only found a couple finger sized pieces of lung in the chest cavity, the rest appearing to have been vaporized. A previous reviewer commented that the velocity of this cartridge was 2,850 fps and not 2,910 fps as listed in the specifications. I wouldn't worry too much about the 60 fps difference. The average whitetail buck probably won't notice, mine sure didn't seem to.

Been hunting with 35 whelen for several years have used other brands of ammo all worked well! great accuracy and great performance on game But the hornady is little different Shots great tac driving accuracy where you will see the biggest difference is on game guess best way to put it is it really does more damage wich is fine by me 10 shots 10 kills and no tracking! ( hogs and deer)Hornady says it all accurate, deadly, dependable best part is its is about half price of most other 35 whelen ammo Simple put you can't go wrong with Hornady superformance 35 whelen ammo

This Hornady Superformance groups a lot tighter at 100 yards than the Federal Fusion in our CVA Scout V2. Did not notice any appreciable increase in recoil in the Hornady compared to the Federal Fusion either. I'm sure the Federal Fusion is great ammo but our CVA Scout V2 just shoots the Hornady Superformance better.
