Fantastic shotgun fresh out of the box. It was covered with some kind of lubricant to protect it from rust but a cleaning got rid of it. Action isnt very stiff and Buds got it to my ffl in record time as always.

Excellent shotgun! Bought it for small game hunts and pheasants!! Shoots straight cycles flawlessly! What's not love???!!!!

First impressions of this shotgun, very nice wooden furniture. Wooden stock and forearm is very nicely sanded and is smooth, with a noce stain too. Nice smooth pump action right out of the box no complaints, which is what I expect from Mossberg and wasn't disappointed in the least. First shots at clay pigeons and as expected worked flawlessly. Overall very satisfied with my purchase.

I echo other reviewer comments - unfortunately my 500 had a lot scratches on the receiver that were hidden by some shipping coating. When cleaned they really stand out. It's a workhorse gun I get it - but would rather have banged it up myself. Check yours closely if that bothers you.

The Mossberg 28" 12 GA is exactly what I was looking for. The assembly and disassembly is easy and the quality and design is excellent. I'm truly happy with my purchase.

Best shotgun out there as far as I'm concerned. Just be warned that this comes with the light yellow wood. Tried Boyd's furniture and the butt stock was too long and foreend was too loose. I called up Mossberg and had them send me gloss dark brown furniture. Added a fiber optic front sight and now this gun kills clay pigeons better than my buddies B-labeled over/under. What I think I like best is the location of the safety and how shells are loaded (compared to a Remington). I like Mossberg so much, I bought a HD version and keep it loaded with 00 buck.
