I purchased an Uberti 1860 Henry 44-40. I got the gun and she looks great. I unpacked the gun and did a headspace check and the headspace checked out at 6 thousands of an inch. I placed two cartridges in the magazine and fired both cartridges and they fired and fed beautiful. I examined both fired cartridges and no primer back out and no bulging of the cartridges. I feel this gun will perform very well and the I wish the woodland shooting range was no covered with snow and the hills to get to it because I would love to shoot at least 2 or 3 hundred rounds through this Uberti rifle. I purchased a Henry 1860 manufactured by the Henry company and sent it back it had 35 thousands of headspace and they had me send it back and a new barrel was installed and it had 35 thousands of headspace. I called them and they had me send it back to them and Henry sent me another 1860 rifle and it also had 35 thousands of head space. I asked for my money back and they sent me a check in the amount of what I paid for their 1860. I can say the Henry people were very gracious and did everything they could to satisfy my wishes to remove the excessive headspace and was finally told that much headspace was their standard. I was shocked to be told that but it must be because all three guns had excessive headspace. The Henry 1860 was cracking once fired cases and also on some the rim and was breaking off of some of the cartridges with the rest of the cartridge still suck in the chamber and the rest of the stuck case was difficult to remove. I had many Jams with stuck cases in the chamber at the shooting range.
I feel confident the 1860 Uberti produced rifle will perform to perfection.
