The magazines are unique to the Howa 1500 Action Richard. Proprietary mags. The AR-10 mags lock in at the side this one locks at the front. You can get them from many suppliers for $40. Watch the video and you'll see where it locks up and it's not AR 10 style.

I have shoulder problems, anyone know how the recoil is on this rifle?

I have that rifle. The hogue stock, and weight, make it the softest shooting bolt .308 I've owned. So much so, my 12yo stick-thin son learned to shoot with it, and is is now his hunting rifle. If you have shoulder issues, get this rifle and use managed/light recoil ammo with it. If that is too much, or your shoulder is really bad, get a semi auto AR in .300blk and keep your hunts short range. (If you found this answer helpful, please mark it as the "Best Answer". It will likely feel like a 12ga with 2&3/4 shells.

This is a bolt action so recoil will be substantial. You can look at a "semi-auto: for less recoil since some of the recoil energy is recirculated to chamber the next round. If you need a bolt action 308 you can have it equipped with a recoil dampening muzzle brake.

Rifle fit and finish were great. Trigger was great. Accuracy is great. The break in procedure included with the rifle is a very nice touch. The Nikko Sterling single plane scope was planned to be a box up and save for another time, but I am very impressed with the quality and brightness of this optic. I am going to go with it and see about the longevity
