CZ-USA CZ 550 Varmint 308 Winchester - 25.6" Barrel, 4+1 Rounds, Wood Stock

If you have ever flown a light aircraft in a strong cross wind and attempted to land it on a short narrow strip, the pucker factor coming in on high final will laser burn into your memory just what force the wind can have. Bucking the wind with a bullet requires a lot more than pushing some minuscule pellet at extreme velocity especially when you want to reach out beyond 200 yards. The time tested and range proven qualities of the .30 caliber projectile stand regardless of what the latest caliber "de jour" is currently popular. The .308 Winchester is great long range varmint round and will turn those far away critters into jelly. The CZ-USA CZ550 Varmint Laminated provides an ideal platform with its classic control feed action, heavy barrel, and removable magazine. This is not a light rifle to lug around the mountains but rather a stable and reliable piece of quality workmanship that will put those .30 caliber bullets where you want them. The first five (5) rounds fired from my just out of the box CZ 550 .308 were all touching each other at 100 yards with 150 grain Soft Point Federal factory ammo. A quality scope with nothing more than a bore sighter device adjustment was the only thing done. Obviously different loads at different ranges need to be worked up for full test results but for a new gun I look forward to maximizing its potential and am exceptionally pleased with it.

Bought the CZ 550 looking for an accurate heavy barrel varminter. The gun really looks good but it didn't meet my need for accuracy. I used over a hundred combinations of powder, powder weight, bullet weights and bullets. Never could get MOA groups. I sent it back to CZ and they said it met their 1 1/4 MOA standard and returned it to me. It didn't work for me so I sold it.
