Great pistol! Straight out of the box with no cleaning or lubricating it ate 250 rounds from 5 different manufacturers ( CCI, Federal, Sig, Hornady, Winchester) with grain weights from 115, 124, 147 and 150 with ZERO failures. Every mag (8 used, new and old M&P mags) went to lock back. Trigger was right at 5lbs and reset is a little long for a competition gun but an apex kit will fix that. The pistol really doesn't feel that much heavier than the polymer version and isn't any more noticeable as far as concealment goes. It comes with multiple mounting plates for optics.The new Eotech EFLX went on without issue and held tight. The down sides are if you use the mag well flare it does NOT want to take standard M&P mags. (floor plates hit the inside walls of the flare) S&W is supposed to release, for after market purchase, a new floor plate that will be similar to the ones shipped with the 17rd pistol. (not as of 2/2/23) Apex and Arredond floor plates can be modified to fit with the flare in place. The over sized mag release was replaced with the standard release (included in the box) due to its propensity to be pressed while shooting left handed... Bottom line, it shot straight every time the trigger was pulled without stoppage!
