SDS Imports S12 VEPR Mag 12 Gauge Shotgun - 19" Barrel, 5+1 Rounds

This VP12 AK pattern shotgun came as an impressive surprise to me, and it functioned/cycled even better out-of-the-box than my Molot VEPR12. Works with VEPR 12 compatible mags and drums. The Last Round Bolt Hold Open (LRBHO) catch lever could be improved because it works with the factory 5-round mag, but not with other VEPR mags unless you apply upward vertical force from underneath the mag, and it doesn’t have the VEPR12 /Saiga 12 030 BHO button behind the magwell, but it’s not a deal breaker because it does have a an improved/pronounced BHO/Bolt Release button at the trigger guard on the receiver. Please do note that the receiver thickness is not the same as the Molot VEPR12 (it’s thinner like a Saiga 12), so buttstocks/adapters may not match VEPR12 buttstocks/adapters in case you want to add a different/folding stock, but once again not a deal breaker because the stock that comes with it is nice and acceptable. The tango down style pistol grip works well too. My only regret was not buying more of these.

I wanted to like this shotgun but the charging handle has sheared off twice while shooting. It sheared off after approx 100 rounds so SDS sent me a new carrier with charging handle. The second charging handle sheared off after 80 more rounds fired. I think the charging handle being a screw-in design is a major flaw. I now have a stainless bolt threaded in as my charging handle but I fear that it'll shear off at any time so I don't shoot it much anymore. Total round count on my shotgun is less than 300 rounds fired.

I've had it for a couple days and have shot it close to a hundred times. Wiped it down first with a light coat of oil to make sure there was no gunk on it, but it was pretty clean right out the box. I had maybe 5 or so stovepipes which was expected considering it takes 100 or so rounds to break it in, combined with the fact that I was using some cheap ammo. I have since gotten the ten round mags, copycat GK-01 muzzle brake, foregrip, etc and am going to see how that rolls. So far it's exactly what I expected. Small dings here and there when I took it out of the box, but I didn't buy this for it's looks. The bolt hold open so far only works with the factory 5 round mag which was expected also. I'm happy with it so far.

I had been in the market for a 12 gauge for well over a year. After I got my AR-15, I knew that also having a 12 gauge to back up or potentially take over as a main battle weapon would probably be in my best interest. I also knew that having a semi-automatic instead of a pump would also be in my best interest. And when it comes to shotguns, CAPACITY MATTERS. So, I knew I wanted something that could take high-capacity magazines or possibly even a drum. I originally was going to go with an Escort DF12, but after passing on that and continuing to search, I came upon this beast. My uncle owns an actual Molot Vepr 12, and I'm well aware what they are capable of. This is a REAL Chinese AK47 Vepr Clone, made in the same factory as the $40,000 full auto Chinese AK's. The build quality EXCEEDS the price point. The bolt carrier, the trunnion, the barrel, are all cold hammer forged. 1.5mm receiver. This thing is built like an absolute TANK. Anybody that is sitting on the fence wondering if they should buy this weapon, DO IT. For the price you cannot get any better. Plus, you can change the stock and grip out for any ak pattern stock or grip, you can put a red dot on it, you can use 25 round drum mags, this shotgun with a 25-round drum mag is the ultimate in civilian firepower. Can't afford a $2,000 actual Vepr 12? Buy this.
