Heritage Manufacturing Barkeep Boot Gray Pearl 1.68" 22 Long Rifle Revolver - Blue/Black, 6 Rounds, Ivory/Pearl Grips

I go to the range for two reasons, practice for personal protection, and have fun. When it comes to the fun part, there's nothing better than Heritage revolvers. I like smaller pistols, so I stick to the Barkeeps. The 1" is...let's say...interesting. First, let me start by saying that I understand why Heritage made the decisions they did for this little guy. It's supposed to be the old west version of a concealed firearm, a boot pistol, but some of the concessions made to accomplish this make it a not so good range gun out of the box. First, I don't care for birds head grips. I know this is only personal preference, but I had to order a new backstrap and standard grips to make shooting this gun enjoyable for me. My other issue is more than personal preference, I think. The 1" Barkeep doesn't have a front site, so out of the box it's not suitable for the range, and being a 22, it's not suitable for personal protection either. To make it a range gun, I ordered a Viridian laser from Heritage ($75.00, not bad) and mounted it on this guy. So now my 1" looks like a 2" or 3", but with a shorter barrel, no front site, and a laser. I call it my assassin gun. The functionality has been perfect, as it has been with all of my Heritage revolvers.

The Heritage Barkeep is cool. Especially for those who get a kick out of early Western weapons. I own several Heritage revolvers and besides the sheer fun of seeing them on display they are fun and inexpensive to shoot. The Barkeep in particular looks so unusual but it does go bang. Forget the elephant hunt with this but to plink around the yard with this little gun is great.

This is an excellent little gun. Hefty enough for no kick when fired, good accaracy
