No, it is not on the CA DOJ Approved handgun roster. i own the ruger 57 with the 20 round magazine. if i buy another one that comes with the 10 round magazine can i use my spare magazine that came with my other in this one. i have model-16401 want to see if model 16402 will take the magazine from16041

Gerald, absolutely yes. Most manufacturers including Ruger make firearm packages that have 10rd magazines so their pistols can also be sold in states that have magazine capacity restrictions. The pistols are exactly the same as the pistols that ship with higher capacity mags but, just have 10rd mags included. The pistols will also accept any standard/higher capacity magazines just fine. Yes you can. 16402 is the state compliant model, same gun, just comes with a 10 rd mag. https://ruger.com/products/ruger57/models.html

They are the exact same guns, the only difference is the one worth the 10rd magazines have a block installed in the magazine that limits how many rounds you can load, the 10rd mags will work in either pistol as will the 20rd mags. This is a very good handgun. I have put several hundred rounds through mine and the only malfunctions I had were when I tried 30 grain ammunition with a heavy optic mounted to the slide. The user manual said this might be an issue. Takedown is easy, fit and finish is fairly good, the pistol is very lightweight, and it points extremely naturally for me. Downsides: you can’t co-witness the iron sights with an optic. The optic will bolt to the top of the slide rather than in a slide cut. The trigger does not have a crisp break. It is fairly good, but there’s some plasticy squishiness when overcoming the wall.

What a great little pistol. Arrived in a timely fashion. BNIB. Have only put 200 rounds through it and no problems so far.nice flat trajectory. The stock front glow sight is super bright and easy to use.

If you love 5.7x28 like I do, you have to have a good pistol chambered in it that doesn't cost over a grand (looking at you FN). This pistol works like most Rugers. That is to say it works just fine. It's not a tack driver in terms of accuracy (that may just be me), but it's good enough and I like its ergonomics.
