Initial impressions of the Savage B22 Precision are outstanding. First of all it has good weight and with the one piece machined billet chassis it feels solid as a rock. I've only had one range visit with it so far but I was extremely impressed with the trigger and I have not even tried to adjust it yet. Perfect very light take up and crisp break with just a few ounces more pressure. I need to get more rounds through it to break in the barrel and do the standard ammo testing to see what brand it really likes but after a few shots to sight in the scope I was hitting bullseyes regularly at 50 yards. There were some flyers, but I'm sure this was from the cheap bulk pack ammo I got from Walmart. Figured I would put 400-500 rounds of the cheap stuff to break in the barrel, then start trying the better brands. I'm sure that when my testing is done and I find the ammo it really likes I will have to up my game to get the most out of this precision rifle.

Doesn't look like your average .22 rifle. Doesn't shoot like your average 22 rifle either. It's better. Solid build on the MDS chassis with the bolt being nice and smooth and no binding at any point just like a mid to high grade centerfire rifle. The Accutrigger for this rifle is an Accutrigger on steroids with a nice, light pull and clean break. The stock fit is excellent as is the overall balance. My Bowers USS22 went on without a hitch and I say that because I have had issues with proper fit on some rifles with threading issues. . Using a Sightmark Wraith, I was able to hold 1" or less at 50 yds with several different types of ammo including subsonic and I'm not that good of a shot.. I have a new favorite rifle.

I was looking for a accurate .22 LR bolt action rifle that was threaded. I have the CZ 455 in the Varmint, American, and the Trainer. I shot .22 Silhouette many years back with a Kimber 82 and a Weihrauch 60. I was thinking about a CZ 457 At-One or the CZ 457 Precision. Handled the Precision model in a gun shop and wasn’t impressed with the adjustable stock that didn’t appear to lock up tight. Continuing to look around I started reading about the Savage B22 and the B22 Precision. The Precision with the upgraded target trigger and ridgid MDT stock was getting very good reviews. I picked one up from Buds as soon as they had them in stock and mounted a Nikon 3-12x42SF MK1-MRAD. I think the SFP is better for the.22 LR as it allows the target to be to be adjusted to the reticle for different yardages. I went to the range and using CCI “blue box” target ammunition the rifle performed incredibly well. Many 10 shot groups at 100 yards were holes that could be covered with a half dollar minus an occasional flyer do to barrel cooling or just the nature of the cheaper ammo. My next trip out I’ll use some CCI green box and Eley. The rifle feels like one is handling a high quality center fire as it’s weight and well designed stock really feels good in the hand. Adding a suppressor even adds to this point. I experienced a couple jams but I think it was my error in cycling. I shot about 175 rounds and the action got smoother with each magazine. The magazine is a bit tricky to load but once I figured out the angle to insert the round it wasn’t to bad. Could be improved though. All in all this rifle is the most enjoyable .22 I’ve taken to the range, period! I think it is a real bargain when compared to its competitors.

First time purchase from Buds and they did an awesome job helping me, looking forward to more in the future. I haven’t been able to shoot the rifle yet but the rifle itself is spectacular. The finish on the chassis is top notch; as to be expected from MDT. Fit and finish on Savage’s part is just as perfect. The gun came well oiled with no damage and the bolt cycles smoothly in the action. Only pulled the trigger once because I do not like to dry fire but trigger was smooth and crisp. Can’t wait to zero my scope and send some led down range, should be a fun shooting season!
