Hi Thomas, the sights are co-witnessed with the optic, so you need not remove the optic to use the sights. The unboxing video does not show everything that's in the box, I'm sure Kimber includes the cover plate. If it is not included, I'm sure they would send you one just for asking. Pretty positive the cover plate is included but, these days ya never know. In that case I'd take the fellas advice below and just give Kimber a call to have them send one.
