  • got a new glock 20 gen 5 and having ammo malfunctions. I have been shooting underwood, federal and winchester ammo. I have 5 magazines and I have been trying to narrow the malfunctions to a single magazine. Any one else having pistol or magazine issues?

  • Joe, if it's brand new could just need broken in. New firearms can have issues until you shoot 400-500 rounds through it to smooth everything out. If you have 5 magazines and your having misfeeds with all of them it's likely the pistol. Like you said I'd try to narrow it down and see if any of the magazines are more reliable than others. Certain firearms can be picky about ammo but sounds like you've tried several different brands, so don't think that's the issue. So my best advice is check the mags, if it's just one or two of them it's very possible it's just a bad magazine. If it does it with every mag then I'd recommend cleaning it really well and try firing few boxes of ammo through it and give it another good cleaning. If that doesn't work id give Glocks customer service a call at 770-432-1202 or you can email them at (Warranty@glock.us) to see if they can help. Sorry you're having trouble but hope this helps some.

  • Hi Joe and welcome. I have a gen 5 G20 and have no issues. I do run a 24lb Wolf recoil spring as I only shoot full power 10mm loads. I also replaced the magazine springs in all my mags with Wolf X-tra power springs as well. I would stary by disassembling the firearm and checking for any defects in the barrel hood and feed ramp. Clean, reassemble and lube. Can you manually cycle a magazine without firing? If nothing is found, a call to Glock for advice/service may be necessary. Cheers and stay safe!
