  • Michael, I personally don't see much of a reason to pick your serial number unless you're a collector.. if buying more than one some people like getting sequential numbers. Can also use it for manufacturer recalls. You can look up the serial numbers to make sure it's not affected by the recall. You can also check when it was manufactured by looking up the serial number. Another reason would be if the manufacturer was bought by another company you can use the serial number to see if it was produced by the new or old owner of the company. Yes for the most part higher serial numbers means it was built later than lower serial numbers but isn't always the case. Hope this helps.
