  • Drake, the 308 a great choice. the military designation is 7.62x51 and is a lower pressure round than the 308 Winchester. A rifle chambered in 308 will fire both 308 and 7.62 ammunition just fine. The concern would be a 7.62x51 chambered firearm firing the higher pressure 308 Winchester.

  • No, this is a .308 winchester. It will also fire 7.62NATO rounds as the chamber is made to fire either cartridge.
