being a rimfire the primer is in the edge (rim ) of the case not in the center were a bullet point could contact it
Jonathan, the priming compound is in the rim and not the center of the 22/22Mag/17hmr cartridges and not the center as in center fire cartridges. The bullet tip cannot ignite the next cartridge. 3rd picture here : americanrifleman.org/articles/2017/8/16/what-you-should-know-about-22-rimfire/
Jonathan, 17 HMR, is a rimfire rifle cartridge not centerfire so no problem with bullet point hitting primer.
17 HMR is a rimfire cartridge not centerfire. No primer in the center for the bullet to touch and unintentionally detonate.

Remember, this is a rimfire cartridge. The firing pin mechanics hits the rim of the cartridge, unlike centerfire cartridges. You won’t have any issues. You might want to be a bit more careful if you get a centerfire version, but even then you should be safe. It was my pleasure to assist you.
