  • Does this one have the tapered cylinder that I do not desire. I saw a new 4" non Wiley Clapp version in a gunstore that had the tapered cylinder. Where the bullet leaves the cylinder was tapered down to almost paper thin outer wall.

  • The one I got 6 mounts ago did not and I understood that the tapered cylinder was ONLY on the Wiley Clapp version Again I suggest that you call Ruger and see when/if the change was made and which modes were affected Telephone: 336-949-5200 / Fax: 928-541-8835 We are not buds employees we are volunteers that answer questions

  • Apparently, the tapered cylinder is the wave of the future for SP101s. First appearing on the Wiley Clapp model, the tapered cylinder seems to be showing up on more and more SP101s as the older ones sell, and newer ones are shipped from Ruger. I am aware of a couple that went in for repair that had the straight cylinder and were returned with a tapered cylinder. Also, ihas been featured on some newer .327s that have been sold. Supposedly, the tapered cylinder is to aid in reholstering the firearm, making re-entry into the holster a bit more smooth and easier. Can;t say for sure ... but seems to be appearing on more and more. I can only suggest, as randy said, call Buds and ask which cylinder their present stock of .357 SP101s has installed.

  • Michael, no Sir. Since there are sometimes model changes, I would confirm this directly with Ruger at 336-949-5200 --- (Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm ET)

  • continued If ruger has changed to the tapered cylinder and (not changed the model number) I would not be able to tell you which you would get even if I have just received one with a non tapered cylinder You really need to ask ruger or you could try asking Buds.
