As Trevor stated, first and foremost, you won will need a gun that fits him, and one he is comfortable with, as far as stock length, stock 'angle' (comb) weight and barrel length. But if your son is a big, strapping young man, then it probably wouldn't matter. From the reviews, though, this would probably be a good choice for high school trap.

Keep in mind this is a "compact" model, you might be better served by the standard SXP Trap model. Figure out what length of pull is best for you and go from there - fitting is the most important thing to consider with shotguns.

Sol, I have read favorable reviews of this gun on other sites. It should serve well as a high school trap gun if the stock is a good fit for him and he can point well with it. The price point is also pretty good, the sky is the limit for prices when it comes to trap/skeet guns but this has a good selection of features for the money. I don't personally own one of these guns so perhaps someone who does can chime in with more information.
