The box is only labeled 5.56. Can I shoot these from my Savage bolt action .223?

No.... you should never shoot NATO 5.56 in a gun that is labeled for .223. The N-5.56 should only be fired in guns stamped 5.56. While the cartridges are virtually the same size NATO 5.56 rounds are loaded to much higher pressures to meet military standards.

Firearms chambered for 5.56mm NATO can accept .223, but not the reverse; do not shoot 5.56mm in firearms chambered for .223.
"The comparison between .223 and 5.56 isn’t a new one, so there is a lot of discussion to weed through to learn about the two. Ultimately, because they originated from the same cartridge, they are very similar, but that does not mean that they are necessarily interchangeable. This article discusses three key differences between .223 Remington and 5.56x45mm NATO."

Jonathon, if your Savage Bolt has .223 stamped on the barrel, then it is not recommended. I would speak with Savage as they maintain your warranty and can advise you best at US: (413) 568-7001 or (800) 370-0708 --- Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM EST
